what is pocket branding ?

Posted by admin in Blog

A logo is not your brand, nor is it your identity. Logo design, identity design and branding all have different roles, that together, form a perceived image for a business or product.

so what is pocket Branding ?

so pocket branding is what i came up with to emphasis the importance of getting the right message out in you business card .

What is pocket branding ? – The perceived emotional corporate image as a whole in your business card . What is identity? – The visual aspects that form part of the overall brandin your business card . What is a logo? – A logo identifies a business in its simplest form via the use of a mark or icon in your business card..

What is branding?

Many people believe a brand only consists of a few elements , colors,  fonts,  logo and slogan . In reality, it is much more  than that.

so if we take all these elements and put them in the mini billboard called a business card and ad the personality of your company we have a pocket brand.

What is identity design?

One major role in the ‘pocket brand’ is  identity.

In most cases, identity design is based around the visual parts used within a company,  within a set of guidelines. These guidelines that make up an identity usually administer how the identity is applied throughout a variety of mediums, using approved color palettes, fonts, layouts, logo etc.. These guidelines ensure that the identity of the company is kept unified across all your mediums , which in turn, allows the brand as a whole, to be recognizable.

The identity of a company is made up of many many things heres a list that i put togethere,in our case we are only focused on the business card ,hence pocket branding but im sure you can use the others in the list to help you organize better you company.

  • A Logo (The symbol of the company)
  • Stationery (Letterhead , business cards, envelopes, etc.)
  • Marketing l (Flyers, brochures, websites, etc.)
  • Products & Packaging ( packaging in which they come in)
  • company Apparel  ( uniforms for employees)
  • Signage (Interior & exterior signs)
  • Messages & Actions (what you say to your customers )
  • Other Communication (Audio, smell, touch, the experience of you company .

All of these things make up an identity as a whole. The logo however, is the company identity and brand all wrapped up into one identifiable mark. This mark is the symbol of the business in its entirety .

What is a logo?

To understand what a logo is, we must first understand what it is  for.

A logo is for identification.

A logo identifies a company or product. A logo does not sell the company  , a logo does not  describe the company . logos  are there to identity, not to explain.

think of  logos like people. our namess –bill, jose, mary  – rather than by a description  of ourselves such as “the girl that paint really good ”. In this same way, a logo should not literally describe what the  company  does. your name, your signiture the font you use its all veru=y unique to each person and that is your logo , your personality ,the way you act, the way you dress in a whole is you the brand  identified thru you name  in a way that is  recognizable and memorable, if you where a company

important thing to know ,  only after a logo becomes familiar,  does it function correctly , just  like  we   must learn people’s names to identify them.

The logo identifies in its simplest form.
